Golden Temple The Golden Temple, the most important pilgrimage site for the Sikh community, was founded by Guru Ramdas, the fourth Guru of the Sikhs and completed by his successor Guru Arjan Dev. Sikhs and other pilgrims from all over the world come to the Golden Temple to pay their reverence to The Guru Granth Sahib (the holy book) and take a holy dip in the Amrit Saras Kund (the Pool of Immortality, surrounding the temple) for spiritual purification.
|Jalianwala Bagh Made famous by the
massacre of innocent Indians ordered by General Dyer in the year 1919,
the Jalianwala Bagh is a public garden very close to the Golden Temple
complex. It houses a large memorial built to commemorate the dead.

change of guards ceremony - The Wagah Border, located just a few miles
from Amritsar city, is Indias international border with Pakistan,
and each evening at sunset, the Border Security Forces on both sides
conduct a lowering of flags, closing of gates and change of guards
ceremony, with a lot of pomp and show.
